Route Building

Creating custom routes with control points, routing modes, and TCX export.

Creating Routes

Create custom routes in the Routes tab:

  1. Tap the + icon (blue circle) to create a new route
  2. Long press on the map to add control points
  3. Tap a control point, then tap a new destination on the map to move it
  4. Tap near an existing route line for options:
    • Add Control Point - Insert a new point at that position
    • Continue Building Over - For out-and-back routes. This places a new control point on the existing route at the tapped location, but heading back the way you came
  5. Save your route with a name

Routes can be exported as TCX files for use on dedicated GPS devices from Garmin, Wahoo, and other manufacturers.

Route Building Modes

Tap the menu button in the lower left to switch between routing modes:

  • Bike (default) - Calculates cycling-friendly routes
  • Car - Use when you know an area is safe to ride but bike routing won't allow it
  • Line - Creates straight lines between points for maximum control

After using Car or Line mode for a section, switch back to Bike mode for the rest of your route.

Route Builder Controls

While building a route, you'll see helpful information and controls in the bottom bar:

  • Undo/Redo - Arrow buttons to undo or redo your last action
  • Distance - Total route distance, shown in your chosen units (miles or kilometers)
  • Duration - Estimated ride time
  • Surface Stats - Percentage breakdown of your route by surface type:
    • Blue = Paved
    • Orange = Dirt/Unpaved
    • Black = Unknown

Viewing Route Details

Tap the List button in the lower right to see all your control points and turn-by-turn directions for the route.
